At 5199m high, it is Africa's second highest mountain, with gleaming and
eroded snow-capped peaks, which can be seen for miles. It is a broad,
large symmetrical volcano cone whose diameter at the base is about 12
km, dating between 2 to 3 million years ago. There are three peaks; Mbatian,
, Nelion and point Lenana. The magnificent views over the surrounding
country from point Lenana and other high points around the main peaks
and trekking on this mountain is a priority among tourists. The forest
surrounding the mountain support a large variety of wildlife such as elephant,
buffalo, monkey, antelope, lion, zebra, eland, rock hyrax, giant forest
hogs, leopard and various species of birds such as eagle, vulture, and
sunbird among others.

Your Itinerary
DAY I: Nairobi/Nanyuki
Departure from Nairobi is at 0900 hrs(either from hotel or airport) to
Nanyuki and stop at the Equator briefly. Continue to Nanyuki where you
check in your hotel. Afternoon is spend preparing for the hike.A COMPLIMENTARY
walking tour to the EQUATOR. Dinner and overnight at the Nanyuki simbas
lodge.
DAY 2: Old Moses
After breakfast transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for
overnight (3300m), 3 to 4 hrs hikes (9kms). Old Moses is where you acclimatize
as you also come across different vegetations.
DAY 3: Shipton's
After breakfast Hike to Shipton's camp (4200m )through Liki and Makinders
valley for overnight (6 to 8 hrs hikes) 17 kms.
DAY 4:Judmair
Attempt point Lenana (4985m) at 0300 hrs and descend directly to Old Moses
(Judmair) Camp for overnight
Day 5: Sirimon/Nairobi
After breakfast descend to Sirimon Park Gate to catch your vehicle to
your next destination

Naro Moru route is the quickest way to the base of the mountain and Pt.
Lenana. It is also one of the steepest routes and extra care should be
taken here to avoid problems with AMS. Walking up towards Mackinders Camp
through the Teleki Valley offers superb views of the peaks of Batian and
Nelion. A steep section known as the "vertical bog" is crossed
around midwau to Mackinders Hut and a stopover here is almost compulsory.
The accomodations are good with bunkhouses at Met Station and Mackinder's
Camp.

DAY 2: MET.CAMP
SITE
Early morning photo taking Mt kenya when its clear then after
breakfast, Drive to the gate then walk to the Meteorological Station.
This is a very good day for acclimatization, for we will be sleeping at
an altitude of 10,000 ft 9 kms 3-4 hours walk
DAY 3: MACKINDER'S CAMP SITE
Hike up through the Teleki valley to Mackinders Camp where there is a
spectacular view of the main peaks. Walking time approximately 4-6 hours.
Overnight Mackinders Camp. (14,000 ft.) 9kms 4-5 hours walk
DAY 4: MACKINDER'S
CAMP SITE
A pre- dawn attempt of point Lenana is made to ensure a successful summit
bid and to try to reach the summit in time for a clear view of the majestic
scenery. After climbing Pt. Lenana we return back to Mackinders camp for
breakfast and then proceed down to Met Station Lodge for overnigh.9 kms
3 to 4 hours walk
DAY 5: NAIROBI
After breakfast at Met station walk down to Park Gate to catch your transport
back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon

Camp Site
Drive to Naromoru Gate and then walk to Met station camp at 10,000 ft.
Overnight at the Met station camp. Here we spend the night in high altitude

DAY 3: Mackinders
Camp
After Breakfast we ascend to Mackinders Camp via Teleki Valley and spend
the night camped in this beautiful little valley below subsidiary peaks
of point John and Diamond Cooler. Overnight stay Mackinders. 9 kms 4-5
hrs walk
DAY 4: Mackinders
Camp - Summit Point Lenana
Climb to point Lenana and then to Mintos Hut for breakfast then down to
chogoria park gate bandas for overnight. 18 kms from Mintos.5-7 hrs walk
DAY 5: Chogoria

Decsend from bandas to Chogoria town with option of walking half way or
taking 4x4. 32kms .walking is 7 hrs while drive 2 hours.

Day 1:Nairobi-Nanyuki
Transfer from Nairobi is at 09:00 hrs to Nanyuki .A COMPLIMENTARY walking

Day 2: Sirimon
gate to Judmaier camp
After Breakfast drive to Sirimon Park gate and trek for 3 - 4 hours to
Old Moses Camp (Judmeier) through a beautiful forest with East African
Pencil Cedar trees, Poducarpus trees and the giant Hygenia trees. From
Judmeier camp you can see the summits of Batian andNelion peaks: 9kms
Day 3 :Old Moses
(Judmaier) camp to Shiptons camp
This is about a 6 - 8 hour hike crossing Liki and Mackinders valleys,
there is a great view of Tereri and Sendeo peaks. And also a great view
of Nanyuki town and beautiful terrain. Shipton's camp has also an excellent
setting with the north faces of Nelion peak and Batian peak. 13kms
Day 4: Shipton's
camp to Point Lenana and then descend to Mintos Camp (Halls Tarns camp).
This hike is about 4 and half hours hike through some of the most spectacular
sceneries like Gorges valley the Halls Tarns and the Lake Elies at a far
distance. Overnight at Mintos Campisite.
 Day
5: Mintos (Halls tarns camp) to Meru Mt.Kenya Lodge (Bandas)
This hike is anywhere between 4 - 6 hours. This area has spectacular views
down into the Gorges valley with Lake Michaelson and Vivienne falls, and
across on the other side you can see Ithanguni peak, Rotundu peaks and
the Giant Flat -- top Kilingo hill table. 18kms
Day 6: Chogoria
gate to Chogoria town
About 6 - 8 hours, on dirt roads through a thick bamboo forest and tropical
forest. The forest is really beautiful with chances of seeing wildlife
and Columbus monkeys. Transfer to Nairobi arriving late afternoon.32kms
or walk half way to take 4x4.
You can opt for carnivore restaurant dinner for game meat-Price is 40
USD per person ! !

SIRIMON OUT NARO MORU ROUTE |
DAY 1: Nairobi/Nanyuki
Depart from Nairobi at 09:00hrs and proceed towards the cool slopes of
Mt. Kenya. Cross the Equator and arrive at Nanyuki hotel in time for Lunch.
Relax and enjoy the excellent facilities and magnificent scenery.
DAY 2: Sirimon Gate
Morning spent sorting and organizing personal equipment for the mountain
trek. After lunch we drive to Sirimon Gate and then to road head at 11,000
ft. An easy walk in the afternoon to help acclimatization. Overnight Judmaier
camp. Here we spend the night in high altitude mountain tents.
DAY 3: Liki Valley
After Break we ascend the Sirimon Track to Liki North Valley and spend
the night camped in this beautiful little valley below subsidiary peaks
of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks.
Overnight stay in Liki North Valley,13,000 ft.
DAY 4: Mackinder;s Valley
Climb out of the North Valley and in to the Mackinder’s valley, on the
broadest valleys of Mt. Kenya. We camp at the head of the Mackinder’s
Valley, just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion. 14,000ft.
DAY 5: Tereke Valley
Make an alpine ascent of the third highest peak, point Lenana (16,355
ft). This route up the north face is little used by tourists. Four hours
of stiff walking to the summit. Descend to the Teleki Valley on the opposite
side of the main peaks, to Mackinders Camp. Overnight Teleki Valley (13,000
ft.)
DAY 6: Met Station
Descend to the Met. Station (Road head) on the Naro Moru Track and then
back to the hotel for meals and overnight.
DAY 7: Naru Moru/ Nairobi
After breakfast, leisurely drive back to Nairobi, arriving at around mid-day.

Detailed Itineraly
Day 1: Nairobi-
Chogoria
After breakfast we depart Nairobi from the Parkside hotel and head to
Chogoria town arriving in time for lunch at the Transit hotel. The journey
takes 3 to 3.5 hours. Afternoon will be spent walking around the town
for acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at the Transit Hotel.
Day 2: Chogoria
- Meru Mount Kenya Lodge (Bandas)
After breakfast we take 4x4 and drive up to the edge of the bamboo forest
where we start our trekking through the dense bamboo forest for distance
of 10 km up to the Bandas for lunch. Afternoon will be spent walking around
the lodge with a view of beautiful sceneries. Dinner and overnight at
the Bandas.(accommodation at Bandas is of single beds.hot shower and bon
fire self catering bandas)
Day 3: Meru
Mount Kenya Lodge (Bandas) to Mintos Hut
After breakfast leave the lodge for Mintos Hut for a distance of 15 km.
Uphill having our lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at Mintos Campsite.
Day 4: Mintos
to Summit - Mackinders
After pre dawn breakfast we leave the campsite at 2.00 am. For the summit
arriving at 6.30 am for sunrise, Kilimanjaro and the coast line
Views. After 10 to 15 minutes of photography we descend via Austrian Hut
to Mackinders camp for breakfast hence spend the whole day enjoying beautiful
views. Dinner and overnight at Mackinders Camp.
Day 5: Mackinders
Camp to Met Station
After breakfast leave the camp and descend to Met Station via the Moor
land and the vertical borges arriving in time for lunch. Dinner and overnight
at the Met Station Lodge.
Day 6: Met Station
- Gate - Nairobi.
After breakfast leave Met Station and descend to the Naro Moru Park Gate
a distance of 10 km to connect your transport back to Nairobi arriving
afternoon.(with option of our continuation to Moshi)
